I just want to say that I really, really like singer-songwriter Noëlle Hampton. There was this short film back in 2002 called bigLove which she served as composer. Big Love, directed by Leaf Garret (Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), was the first movie to be completely shot using the new Sony CineAlta HD camera whose later model was used to shoot Star Wars Episode II.
Anyway, she does this song for the movie called “Here On The Ground,” a swinging, swaying love ballad which gets me all kinds of teary-eyed when I hear it. It’s also available on her 5 For The Road album.
Sure she’s country, sure she’s a little bluegrass. But Noëlle Hampton also has that west coast slide thing going for her which I enjoy (thank you, Beck). Her website hasn’t been updated since 2005 is getting a face lift, but it looks as though she relocated to Austin. I might have to track her down and do a photo shoot with her or something. In fact, if I were to get married anytime soon, I’d hire her to cover the reception.
She’s good…and not bad on the eyes, either. Check her out.
