Adriana

Adriana lost a bet: the Cowboys didn’t go to Superbowl XLII so she had to dye her hair blond. To celebrate her loss, she asked me to photograph her on January 21. I admit I made her sexy. From what I remember, I had an octabank on my right, an umbrella on the left, a hair light and a silver/gold reflector underneath.

The only real digital manipulation I allow myself to get away with on portraits is a bit of surface blur, matting out the eyes, hair, lips, teeth, nostrils, fingernails, certain lines that make up the jaw, and any bling the model may be wearing. All the skin is nice and smooth with just enough texture to show model really is human. I also make sure to get rid of any lens defects or sensor dust. I then add a bit of my secret weapon, then unsharp mask the whole thing ever-so-slightly. I don’t like to talk about my post processing because it really is minimal, and also because in the end, it’s all about the light.

One final note: that’s vegetable oil in the glass.
